Assignment 1 for Magazine Class

Hello everyone, hope you are as psyched about this as I am! For the first task, we will be doing covers! I’m sure most of you as you read the word “covers” had some idea of what you wanted to do pop into your head and this is your chance to do it. This is a task where you can let out your creativity, and the possibilities as to how you could do it are nearly endless! Also remember to create and include a title for your magazine and make it clear! It’s also a good idea to choose what kind of magazine you want it to be; whether it’s a lifestyle magazine, a fashion magazine or a home décor magazine (The last one’s probably not going to happen). You will do the magazine cover on the cover of your album. Make sure it is on the cover because we are making the cover, right?

Rubric (How I will be marking you):

How well they made the layout; if it was clear: /10
If they put time, quality and effort into it: /10
If they finished by specified due date: /10
If they put the cover on the actual cover: /5
How well they put originality and creativity in their work: /10
If they clearly put the magazine name on the cover: /10
If they followed the specifications: /5
If they made it interesting and added their own personal style to it: /10
If they included a covergirl and put cover lines (see bottom of this post): /10
Total score: /80

If you want a perfect mark, follow all of the above and I’m sure you’ll do great! I’m looking forward to seeing all those entries! This task is due on Friday, July 15, 2011, so please get it done on time! You have 5 days to complete any task, and also I will be on vacation (rest assured I’ll be back on time before the marking), but I will likely not be able to answer questions, assuming I am able to come on. If you have any questions, ask NashvilleStar33. Good luck!

*Cover lines: I’m going to save you the awkward questions about this, coverlines are the things on the cover that say things like “100 Ways to Stop Stress!” or “New Spring Trends!”, I’m going to tell you again that it’s a good idea to choose what kind of magazine you want to do before you decide what you want the cover lines to be.
